Televisions have the most seasonal pricing of any category. New models launch in spring at full price, drop through the summer, and hit their lowest around Black Friday and the January sales; the previous year's models are cheapest in the months either side of a new launch. Retailers price-match aggressively on TVs, so a Best Buy or Target match against a competitor is a normal way to buy.

Headphones and speakers discount most during Prime Day and Black Friday, and the previous generation of a popular model (AirPods, Sony and Bose headphones, Sonos) is routinely cut when the new one arrives. Open-box and refurbished from the manufacturer or a large retailer is the reliable route to a real saving on audio outside sale events.
