How to save at Best Buy
Best Buy prices most electronics at or near the manufacturer's list price, which is why its sale events and its open-box stock matter so much.
Sale events. Best Buy runs weekly deals, a "Deal of the Day", and larger events around Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, July, Labor Day and Black Friday. TVs and laptops are the categories where the event pricing is deepest. My Best Buy Plus and Total members often get early access and member-only prices during these events.
Open-box. Every Best Buy store resells returned items online and in store, graded Excellent, Good, Satisfactory or Fair with the difference explained on the listing. Open-box items carry the same return window as new. On TVs, monitors and laptops this is frequently the best price anywhere for a product still under manufacturer warranty.
Price match. Best Buy matches a set of competitors' prices, including Amazon (sold and shipped by Amazon), on identical in-stock items at the time of purchase and during the return window. Marketplace sellers, refurbished stock and doorbuster events are excluded.
Promo codes are uncommon at Best Buy. Discounts are generally applied on the listing. A code that circulates is usually for a specific category or a My Best Buy member offer, and goes in the "Promotional code" box at checkout.
Trade-in credit on phones, laptops and consoles can be combined with a sale price on the replacement.
